We are excited for 2019 and what that will mean for animals in our community.
We are working on several rescue situations.
Baby Lilac
Lilac was rescued by a friend, Mary, in Miami, FL in November.
Mary TNR's several colonies in Miami and she found Baby Lilac in one of them. She took her in and immediately took her to the vet but unfortunately, her eyes were beyond repair.
Lilac had her eyes removed in December. The good news is that Baby Lilac is doing GREAT sans eyes AND she has a home lined up in Buffalo, NY (with a former adopter of ours) and she'll be headed there on 1/29/19.
We need help with getting her there! We estimate the cabin airfare to be at around $100-$150.
Gates, NY Feral Colony
We started helping a kind lady in Gates with (at the time) a three cat colony. We found an awesome barn home (with a good friend of ours) that was willing to take all three kitties but three kitties turned into eight kitties.
Four of the kitties were placed in the barn home, one came into our care, two will be adopted out and the renaming one will most likely come to us for evaluation.
We estimate the vetting to be around $800 total.
Jasper, Stray Greece Ginger
We started noticing Jasper in May 2018. The plan was to trap him at that time but he went missing for several months. Once he showed up, we made an an appointment to get him vetted on 1/10/19 but when he saw the drop trap, he ran for his life.
The plan is to get him trapped in January 2019 and bring him inside.
We estimate the vetting to be around $100.
Fairport, NY Colony
We started working on a small feral colony in Fairport in Summer 2018. We removed four kittens from the colony and fixed the mom cat and a male cat.
Five new cats have shown up at this colony and we'd like to get them fixed before the Spring.
We estimate the vetting to be around $500.
Henrietta, NY Colony
We are working on a 2-3 feral cat colony in Henrietta.
We estimate the vetting to be around $200-$300.
Drogon, Sick FIV+ Kitty
Drogon was taken to Rochester Animal Services by someone and the plan was to return him to his colony but the Staff deemed him adoptable so he was going to go on the adoption floor untill he tested FIV+, which sadly was his death sentence. We picked him up mid 2018.
Drogon had extensive dental work done late last year. In February of this year, we found him having a hard time breathing and having trouble standing up and walking. A trip to Emergency and AHOR diagnosed him as having vertigo.
We have spent a total of $1,500 on his vetting for this.
Solstice and Rumples
Solstice is another FIV+ kitty we took in from Rochester Animal Services mid 2018.
Rumples is a senior gentleman with FIV+ that came from Brockport.
They were both suffering from an allergy that took about $500 to address.
FeLV+ Kittens
We took in four kittens that were going to be euthanized at Rochester Animal Services for being FeLV+.
We have to get them all fully vetted.
We estimate the vetting to be at around $500.
Shai, Kitty Dumped Outside
Shai found herself outside in the city once her family moved away and left her behind.
We picked her up on 4/14/19. She will head to the vet on the week of 4/15/19 for the stray works.
We estimate the vetting to be around $150.
City TNR
We were notified of a lady feeding 20+ stray/feral cats in the city. Some of these kitties were left behind when the others moved and others have found their way to this kind lady.
She has 7 indoor cats that aren't fixed as well.
We will like to take the 5-6 friendly cats from this colony, vet them and adopt them out.
The feral kitties will need to be TNR'ed.
This is a huge undertaking for us as we are a small rescue.
We estimate the vetting to be around $2,000-$3,000.
Yum Yums, FIV+ Stray from Rochester Animal Services
YumYums is a sweet FIV+ boy that we took in from Rochester Animal Services.
He was in danger of euthanasia there because of his positive status.
He unfortunately has stomatitis which is painful inflammation of the mouth and gums.
He will need to have dental surgery to remove all of his teeth.
This is a costly procedule that will run at around $1,500.
Meth House Mom and Babies
We received a call about a woman threatening to kill a mom cat and her four babies.
It turns out that the previous tenant of the home moved out and left her 6 adult cats behind, none of them fixed.
The only cat that stayed around was a momma cat that gave birth to 4 kittens in the garage.
The current tenant was threatening to kill them all with a fry pan.
We intervened before anyone could happen.
The vetting for mom and babies is around $500.
Slinky, Abandoned Kitten
Slinky showed up at a kind lady's house at midnight one day.
She took him to the emergency Vet to see if she could surrender him there as she's not allowed to have cats and she didn't want to leave him alone outside.
They referred her to a friend who asked us if we could take him. We did.
His vetting will be around $100.
Condemned House
We worked on removing 34 cats from a condemned house in the city.
We took in four of these kitties, one of which was very sick and required immediate vetting.
The vetting was around $750.
Comet, Senior FIV+ Boy with Stomatitis
Comet is a senior FIV+ boy that we took in from Rochester Animal Services last year.
He is in dire need of a dental as he has stomatitis which is a painful inflammation of the mouth and gums.
He is scheduled to have surgery by end of August 2019.
His dental will be around $1,500.
We could really use some help with these costs.
We can't help these babies without the support of our compassionate animal loving community.
