Animal Christmas

Jaxon is a Beaver Scout with 4th Georgetown Colony B with Scouts Canada.   He has decided to challenege himself by earning his top section award in the beaver program, which is the North Star Award.  As part of this award the youth must embark on their Northern Lights Quest and complete a project.  The Project should be challenging and meaningful to the youth and be something the youth cares about that can make a positive difference in the local, national or global community.

Jaxon has always loved animals.  And when planning his project was asked what he would like to center his project around.  He replied helping animals.  With the holiday season no doubt being in his mind he asked if Santa comes to animals and gives presents.  In our family we always have stockings for our pets.  But Jaxon asked if Santa brought presents for all the animals that had no homes and families to love them.  As his parent, I did not know how to answer this question.  Jaxon said everyone should get something at Christmas and the dream of Animal Christmas was born.

We reached out to our local non-kill shelter, Upper Credit Humane Society and have partnered with them to run this fundraiser.  Jaxon named his fundraiser Animal Christmas and designed his logo.  He wanted a dog print and a Santa Hat.  He plans on taking in physical donations from a wish list the shelter provided of items needed for animals in their care.  He set a personal goal for himself to raise $250 (origianlly wanting to raise $8000...after discussions on realalistic goal settings decided $250 would be a good goal set).

100% of the proceeds will be going to Upper Credit Humane Society.  He plans to run his fundraiser over the next 4 weeks.  Any funds raised with his Go Fund Me account will be taken to the pet store and used to purchase any items that he was unable to receive through donated items.  He plans to take all the items and giftwrap them into Christmas presents and deliver them the week of Christmas to the shelter.  He will ensure that all the animals have something for Christmas because he believes paws matter.
