Hi everyone,
I started this GoFundMe page on behalf of my dear friend Angel! Angel is a beautiful person, inside and out, who has a heart of gold and is in need of our help and prayers!
Angel is a single mom of two beautiful girls Kylie 19 years old and Kassie 11 years old.
Angel's cancer started 18 years ago when her oldest daughter, who is 19 years old now, was only 5 months old.
Angel went in for what she thought was to have a cyst removed from the left side of her neck however, she woke up to find out she had to have the lymph nodes removed from the left side during surgery due to the cancer spreading.
A week later, Angel had her thyroid metabolism glands and calcium glands removed. Four months after that, she spent a week in the hospital receiving treatment for thyroid cancer. Angel has been on thyroid medication and in remission for 18 years!!!
On February 22, 2017 and March 3, 2017 that remission changed....
On February 22, 2017...Angel went in for what was a routine mammogram and ultrasound.
She later found out she had to have a biopsy of her left breast.
She went back in on February 28th and that's when she was told she would have to come back to have three small calcification's/masses removed and a small, very small, titanium marker placed where they were removed from.
On March 3rd, Angel went in for an x-ray, due to having a chronic cough that she's had since she had the bronchial pneumonia a month ago. Unfortunately, the x-ray showed a 1.5cm mass in her lung.
Also, on February 28th, Angel had a fine needle aspiration of the mass and tissue biopsies.
The outcome was not what she expected!!! Angel was given the news, that although the CT and PET Scans showed no other masses in her lungs or any place else in her body, except, for the three in her left breast...the biopsy and the pathology report came back as early onset lung cancer!!!
Despite the news, her pulmonary doctor is very happy with the outcome and said Angel would be able to do iodine radiation pill treatment at home, as long as, she keeps her doctor appointments, keeps the biopsy appointment, change her eating habits, and she is to start by walking on the treadmill and elliptical machine for 10 minutes a day.
But all was not right......
Angel received a denial from her insurance company.
Angel's insurance company denied the lung biopsy and payment for treatment. Angel is currently appealing her insurance for the fifth time but, so far, no luck with the appeal approvals. She knows from a friend who went through this, that the appeals can take a long time, her friend went through this process for 4 1/2 years!!!
In the mean time, Angel has had to use her entire savings to pay for the procedure and down payment on the first week of treatment, a total of $3,589!
Due to Angel's illness she is unable to work or drive. Which, is causing additional hardships, as she's used all of her savings to pay for her cancer treatment while she waits on the appeal process.
Until her appeals are either approved or exhausted, Angel, will have to keep paying for things out of pocket.
As many of you know medical situations can cause a severe financial hardship and this is why I started a GoFundMe page for Angel. All of the funds donated will go towards Angel's medical treatments, rent, utility bills, and food.
Currently, Angel's medical bills and treatment, financial hardship bills total around...$10,500. The bulk of this is medical bills.
I hope you all consider donating, as each donation would be helping Angel provide for her kids and would allow her the ability to be able to keep getting the cancer treatment she deserves to have!!!
These cancer treatments would allow Angel a fighting chance at life and there's nothing more that
Angel wants than to live to see her daughters keep growing, get married, and have a beautiful family of their own!
Angel's daughter, Kylie, is involved in The Woodbury Ambassador Royal Family, She is the current 2016/2017 Miss Woodbury Princess, actively involved in community functions, college classes, and works as an assistant cheerleading coach for her former cheerleading squad at her old high school.
Angel's other daughter is Kassie, who is a 6th grader at the local middle school. Kassie, also has medical issues, as she sees specialists for her anxiety, OT, PT, asthma, cognitive and understanding learning, and now an orthodontist.
Angel is a loving and dedicated mother who takes Kassie to all her appointments and keeps up with all of Kassie's needs.
