My name is Jake Volin and I am running the Colfax Marathon on May 21, 2017 in order to raise money for the Andy Volin Memorial Scholarship Fund.
On Tuesday March 14, 2017, Andy Volin took his own life after a decade long battle with his mental illness. He is remembered by his family and a long (I mean long) line of friends. He was my uncle.
Anyone that knew Andy boy knows that - regardless of their abilities or reservations - he was always pushing people to try new activites and accomplish new things. This, paired with Andy's unparalleled physcial endurance, has inspired me to attempt something completely out of my comfort zone in his memory. I intend to donate the funds that I raise from this experience to help support the Mental Health Center of Denver (MHCD.org).
The race is 21 May, so I will be collecting money up until the race begins. With your help, we can celebrate and remember the life of a man that lived as passionately, selflessly, and ferociously as Andy Boy did.
