My name is André (aka "American Andy), I am a graduate student from the US and an ardent lover of the Eurovision Song Contest. I first discovered the Contest when I was studying abroad in 2007. Since then, I have been completely in love with it. I started a blog, Eurovision Obsession, in the December 2009 and have been steadily growing my readership ever since.
I am an active member of the OGAE Rest of the World (the official Eurovision fan club for those of us outside of Europe or who live in a European country without its own club) and, as such, I have the opportunity to go to Stockholm to cheer on countries without official clubs such as San Marino, Montenegro, and Hungary (amongst others). This trip is the only time each year I can spend indulging in my biggest passion with others who understand it. The first time I went, I remember saying, "I am among my people!" And that is true; being able to celebrate Eurovision at the event truly allows me to be myself.
This fundraiser will help me with the cost of my plane tickets (between the USA and Sweden), my AirBnB costs, and the cost of my meals for the week that I will be in Stockholm. These are not expenses I can afford with my graduate student income; I need your assistance. Anything you can contribute will help! Even if you cannot contribute financially, spreading the word to those you know will also help me reach my goal. Thank you so much!
