Andie Bee's Road to Recovery Fund

Dear Friends, it is with a very humble heart I have come to the realization that I am in need of a little assistance. Those of you who know me know that normally I am a very private person, so writing this is an exercise in humility in itself. The end point is things are getting desperate here, so I am turning to you: my family, chosen family and friends for support until I am able to take the reigns again.

3 years ago I was diagnosed with what we thought at the time was MS, more recently, the diagnosis was confirmed by the Mayo Clinic as CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demylinating Polyneuropathy) which involves the nerve endings and the shedding of the nerve sheath. For me, this included neuropathy (buzzing, painful feet and hands) and intermittent leg weakness which started out as severe then improved with physical therapy 3 years ago. Since them even with medical treatment it has progressed to the point 6 weeks ago where I am wheelchair bound. I am barely able to rise from a chair without help, but can take a couple of lurching steps once standing.  The kicker? I believe this emtire process was caused by the flu vaccine which my job made it mandatory to take. Go ahead, look it up on the Internet...

I have been out of work since  without pay. Before you ask, yes I know everyone should have 6 months worth of savings, but while living day to day, it's almost impossible to save while keeping up with regular bills.  I have lived within my means without extravagance.  But when a crisis comes... Savings are pretty much depleted.

The good news is there is medication available to combat the swollen nerve endings, but the IVIG treatments are $25,000 each. My health insurance has hemmed and hawed since December about it, but just said yes.  Obviously it won't work overnight, so I'll continue to be out of work until I have some physical therapy and return to walking at a normal pace. Yes, I'm assuming this will work. It has to. I'm not ready to claim disability and give up just yet. I know I can do more.

I believe in doing charitable works and would never hesitate to contribute to a worthy cause if I was able. I believe this is a worthy cause.  The money will be spent on my insurance premiums which I am unable to have deducted without a paycheck, household bills and a couple of needed handicapped accessories to the bathroom. I'm hoping to get back to work within 6 weeks., but this might be a little overly optimistic.  The sooner the better because sitting around is killing my spirit.

Please give if you can, if you can't, please send a prayer my way.  Those of you who know me know that once back on my feet, I will continue to do what I have always done: pay it forward and spread the love.  Feel free to share with anyone who might be interested.

Love and Light, Andie Bee
