The Andean Research Institute (ARI) exists to support Andean culture and the families in the Sacred Valley of Peru, especially in the impoverished village of Maras. By securing new water sources, introducing new agricultural technologies, and improving sanitation, medical care, and education for children and adults, ARI is empowering these villagers to revitalize their community and economy.
ARI also supports the shamans of the region who hold the repository of ancient wisdom teachings that have much relevance to us in the modern world.
Unlike some of the other villages in the Sacred Valley, in Maras there are severe shortages of water, few jobs, and limited access to fresh food, so new ways are desperately needed to revitalize the community as a whole. Through our Weaving and Children’s Education programs we have begun empowering the villagers to create their own sustainable ways of life, even in the face of their dwindling natural resources and recurring extremes in weather patterns.
Our current programs are already making a big positive difference in Maras, and we have many more programs on the drawing board! But in order to get them going, we need to complete construction of our Global Headquarters building in Maras. To do this we need more funding!
We’ve put our initial funding to work, beginning construction of our Headquarters in 2017.
Our funding goal for the next phase of construction is $80,000.
Help us to complete the ARI Global Headquarters so we can continue to implement our groundbreaking social and economic programs in Maras.
