Kidney transplant+ donor expense

Donation protected
In 2013, during my 2nd pregnancy with my son Armaan, I was diagnosed with MGN (Membranous Glomerulonephritis), stage 4 kidney failure. My OBGYN strongly advised that I terminate the pregnancy in order to avoid complications, kidney failure and possible death. After receiving reassurance from my nephrologist that my child would survive the pregnancy, my decision was made. Following the birth of Armaan, doctors attempted to get my kidneys back on track and failed. I was finally put on daily dialysis in December 2014. This new development not only changed my daily routine but fully impacted my life in ways I never thought possible.  My lack of energy, painful dialysis sessions and continuous morning illness were daily reminders for us all that my life was not the same.  In 2016 I was dealing with end stage (stage 5) Kidney failure with only 5% functionality, and the increasing complications with my dialysis and other health issues were affecting us all greatly.   Donna, ( Troy's 4th grade teacher) who had known Troy for years, noticed the changes and he was having more off days than not. Upon talking to Troy, Donna was able to recognize that matters at home were stressful. When she and I spoke, I told her about my condition. Donna spoke about a family member that was dealing with a similar situation and asked if I was listed for transplant and if so, at what facility. Just after spring break, Donna offered to be tested as a live donor for me.   Unbeknownst to us, Donna had spent the past few months researching how to become a kidney donor and what effects it would have on her and her family. Knowing all the risks that she would be taking, to Donna, it was simple math. She had two kidneys and could easily survive with one.   By donating a kidney, not only is she saving a life but she is ensuring that my husband will have a partner to grow old with, Troy and Armaan will grow up without fear of loosing their mother and most importantly, she has returned my hopes and dreams, that I once had of making memories with my family for years to come. There are no words that can adequately describe what a truly amazing person Donna is. Although she has volunteered to save my life, she's humble in her actions and has asked for nothing in return. I could never repay her kindness and selflessness. I'm hoping to collect enough to cover all her expenses for the transplant and the expenses for the 6 weeks that I have to stay in Gainesville, post  transplant, with my caregiver.
