Hello there all you good people. Thank you for helping me get through two very rough years. I wanted to give you all an update on my recovery. I’m finally able to walk with a one pointed cane and a bandmate has made me one from copper pipes with a handle made from a vintage crystal door knob. (A new world of fashionable canes has opened up for me)
My doctors warned me this would be a marathon recovery and they were right. After nine surgeries and two years later, I'm still dealing with chronic pain due to nerve damage and on and off swelling, but lately I’ve been using CBD oil and it is showing some promising results. 65% of my lower leg was crushed and I have a pretty formidable scar from the skin graft,( I call it my battle scar ) but that too has started to look better.
When I look at this list of donors it is incredible. I see the names of people I haven’t seen in so long, work buddies, mentors, bosses, fellow musicians, friends of friends, people who have come to shows and supported my bands through-out the years, even people I have never even met and from all over the world. If I hadn’t been hit by a car, I may never have realized that there are so many people who care for me. Your donations, your kind words have been essential to my physical and psychological healing. It still makes my head spin thinking about the crazy twist of fate that got handed to me but today, April 27th, looking out at a field of Texas wild flowers I feel hopeful and almost ready to join the human race again. All the best to you and yours!
Amy

Hi everyone. Here is an update from Amy's sister Deborah:
I would like to thank each and every one of you on behalf of myself and my sister Amy for your compassion and generosity. We are amazed at how quickly friends and family responded and came to Amy’s aid, as well as those who support her music around the globe.
It is difficult to give a concise update on Amy’s condition. Since her skin grafting surgery, she has been up and down as she faces the daily challenges of this injury. Despite these difficulties, I would like you all to know that every dollar donated to Amy has been incredibly helpful and has alleviated an enormous amount of stress, and your messages have uplifted her and added so much to her recovery process.
I hope this good deed comes back to every one of you...sending out much love and gratitude!

Thanks very much for the update Amy. All the best from Perth, Western Australia! As I may have said before I never thought I'd like the idea of someone else singing Willy's lyrics. I'd been a massive RF fan and I just loved his delivery, still do, but hearing you with The Delines I was very quickly converted to a massive fan of both the tone of your voice and just how adept you were in terms of what you could convey. Hope to see you down here one day.

just wanted to give a +1 to the comment made by Rhonda. MusiCares helped me out when I had a non-insured appendectomy many years ago. HAAM is a great resource as well. Wishing you a speedy and smooth recovery.
