Amy Caprio Memorial Scholarship

“Officer Down, Send Help”
On May 21, 2018, Baltimore County Police Officer Amy Caprio responded to a "routine" call for service involving a "suspicious vehicle and a possible burglary." Officer Caprio, a three year veteran of the agency, daughter, wife and sister, would put it all on the line during this "routine" call.

Amy Sorrells Caprio was a local girl, having graduated from Loch Raven High School and Towson University.  While at Towson University, she met her soon to be husband, Tim Caprio. The two shared each others dreams, love of animals and Amy's desire to be a police officer. Amy was a rising star among her brothers and sisters in Blue, having been selected as Parkville Precinct's, Officer of the Month for March, 2018.

On May 21, 2018 Officer Amy Caprio, displaying her sense of duty and service to her community, confronted individuals who were terrorizing a Parkville community. Amy was deliberately struck with the vehicle by a suspect who ignored her commands to stop. Officer Caprio succumbed to her wounds. Her family, friends, brothers and sisters in Blue, and the entire Baltimore County community mourned her passing.

The Blue Valor Foundation  is assisting a dedicated group of Towson University Alumni and Baltimore County Police Officers, in an effort to honor Amy and preserve her legacy of community service. The  Officer Amy Sorrells Caprio Memorial Scholarship at Towson University  has been established to do just that.  The Blue Valor Foundation  will fully fund the $2,500 scholarship through 2023. After 2023, the foundation will continue to support the scholarship and ensure it is fully funded with the help of an endowment fund at Towson University. We are currently fundraising to establish a $25,000 scholarship endowment at Towson University.

The Blue Valor Foundation  will match the first $5,000 donated during this campaign! Please donate as soon as you are able to assist us with this most honorable cause. The Blue Valor Foundation would like to make a $10,000 donation at Christmas, 2018.
