Amy Benson's Medical Fund

Hello everyone,

My name is Sarah Baker and I want to tell you about my baby sister Amy Benson. She is 23 years old and on the early morning of March 13th she was in a terrible car accident. She was sleeping in the car while her boyfriend was driving , a truck with a trailer cut in front of them and they hit the trailer , her boyfriend was okay, he got out of the car and came around to get her out, he said she was not really conscious but moaning that her neck hurt. Before he had the chance to get her out, a F250 truck came speeding at 65 mph and slammed into the back of her small car. The truck did not see the vehicle and never even hit his brakes. It's truly a miracle that my little sister survived the crash, she has been at Shands Hospital in the Trauma ICU and has been fighting for her life for the past week. I know she is strong and I know she is a fighter because against all odds, she is here with us and its been a week and she is still fighting hard for her life. Amy has been in a self-induced coma since the accident, we have so many friends and family members hoping and praying with us that she wakes up soon. The doctors have advised us that she has suffered Traumatic Brain Injury , her brain stem was injured as well as bruising on her brain in multiple spots ,we will not know the impact this damage has done on her until she wakes up. We do know that her journey will be a long road, and difficult , and that she will need a lot of love, support, and assistance along the way. We are starting a GoFundMe account in hopes of raising funds to help with her journey. These funds will help us make sure that she is placed into the BEST medical rehabilitation center that we can afford to begin her physical therapy and rehab. Amy is the absolute sweetest person, who would give or do anything to help others. She has a heart of gold , she is only 23 years old and moved next door to our grandparents just so she can help take care of them. She is a big animal lover and has many pets that she cant help but take in, two of her dogs were with her and unfortunately one of them didn't survive and the other was badly injured. She is a beautiful person inside and outside, and any donation you make would mean a world of difference to our family to be able to help her and provide the best care that she deserves.
