Amish couple needs your help

Donation protected
Early in July, 2018, the unexpected happened.  At 28+ weeks a sweet, quiet Amish family experienced what no expecting mom wants to experience. Her water broke.  This family of 4 was going to be a family of 5 but this would entail a lengthy hospitalization for mother and baby.  After three weeks of bed rest, numerous ultrasounds and fetal testing, a beautiful 2-13 baby girl entered the world.  Although she arrived crying and kicking, she enter the NICU for the same care any baby this size would require.  She will remain there until she can safely go home.  This family will not accept medical assistance from the government as this is against their religious beliefs and the only discount the hospital is legally able to offer is a cash pay discount.  Mom’s bill alone is close to $50,000.  The baby’s bill is expected to triple that of mom’s.  Although the father was able to stay with his wife until the delivery and after the baby survived the first week, he had to go home to work, telling me that “if he didn’t work, he didn’t get paid”. They also have two small children that need a parent near by.  Mom’s lodging in town has been taken care of as she needs to be near her baby. Their home is two hours away requiring $100-150 for every trip for the father and the other children to visit.  They have asked if the hospital will put them on a payment plan which they will, but this bill will likely be more than many of us pay for our house.   I did ask them if i could raise money for them with a gofundme page and he said “as long as the government isn’t involved and no one is forced to donate, they would appreciate the help”. He did specify that he wanted the money only to be used for hospital expenses and I assured him it would.  Most of us have been blessed with some kind of insurance, so let’s rally around them and see if we can help ease the financial burden they are facing. The family did give me permission to share pictures of their sweet girl.  Please keep her in your prayers, as she continues to improve, in hopes that this family can soon  be reunited again.
