Amir Raffa Morris Rest In Peace

Donation protected
When we hear that someone is a "pillar of the community" we usually think of an accomplished politician or a retired business person who volunteers at their church and contributes around the city to make it a better place.  We don't think of a pillar of the community needing our help.  This is a sad story of someone that does.  This is the story of the concrete part at the bottom of the pillar, the part we don't always notice but that holds the rest up.

Duane Morris and his wife Junalyn are active parishioners at St. Matthew's in Hillsboro and support just about every fundraiser and many different ministries.  Duane is very involved in the Knights of Columbus in the Hillsboro and Beaverton areas as well as at the state organization.  If there's anything that he can help with, Duane is always ready to step up.  At the same time, Duane and Junalyn have had their own trials.

Duane and Junalyn have long been trying to start a family and recently they were excited to learn that God did provide and little Amir Raffa Morris was conceived about five and a half months ago.  He lead an embattled life, fighting long odds in a high-risk pregnancy but showing up at every ultrasound with chin raised anticipating that someday soon he would meet his dad.

Complications overcame the pregnancy and Amir Raffa died during birth on November 27, 2018 at 11:19pm.

Duane and Junalyn and their family -- including another pillar of the community, Florence Morris -- are devastated by their loss.  Unfortunately, like many couples in the "new economy" Duane and Junalyn live paycheck to paycheck.  They had barely scrapped together enough money by borrowing from friends and against future income to arrange for Junalyn's mother to fly over from the Philippines to help her daughter care for her soon-to-be grandson.  Thankfully, her mother will be here soon to help her grieving daughter.

On behalf of Duane, Junalyn, Florence, and their extended family, I'm asking for help with this fundraiser to pay the costs associated with the passing of Amir Raffa.  This will include medical co-pays, uncovered hospital fees, and the cost of the funeral.

Please consider contributing to this great family in our community who has given so much but has lost so much more.
