Alyssa's Oral Cancer Cure

Hello, My name is Alyssa. On Friday, July 13th, 2018, I was diagnosed with Oral Cancer. Two cancerous lesions were removed from my tongue and the cancer has spread to other areas. I have had multiple surgeries in the past on my tongue, but the results always came back negative. The last two surgeries caused me a great deal of pain. I have been in terrible pain for the past five years!  I have been to many specialists before this surgery seeking help, but no one could give me an answer to the cause of the pain - until now. Now, that it has been confirmed that I have cancer, I have been undergoing a series of tests and going to numerous doctor visits.  In addition, I had to have a PET scan and I will have to have 7 weeks of radiation treatments. I will need to endure yet another painful surgery on my tongue and, potentially, reconstructive plastic surgery of my tongue. This course of treatment, of course, is  worrisome to my family and me for several reasons. The first reason obviously, is my health. The second reason, which is why I am writing this proposal, is financial. I have learned that, even though I have insurance, my insurance will not cover all of the costs of the necessary tests / treatments / surgery / and medication. I already owe a large sum of money for the first surgery, which I cannot pay. The third reason, this surgery has the potential to render me unable to teach any longer, which is devastating to me. I don't want to even fathom this possibilty. I would appreciate any financial help during this time as I am a teacher.  I did not qualify for the sick bank in my school district or any kind of disability insurance. FMLA will allow me to keep my insurance, but does not provide me with a paycheck. I will have to miss some months of work, which will be costly. This money will cover the missed timed from work for both myself and my husband who will be taking care of me.
