Starting September 13th, my body of work, “Allies & Demons” will be on display in Seattle. The show depicts archetypes of men and the roles they play in the world--lovers and friends to enemies, collaborators to adversaries.

The funds raised will cover the cost of custom framing for seven original works, marketing, and limited giclee prints.

Thank you for your support!

Artist Bio:

ST Rivera (Shamika Taisha Rivera) is a self-taught artist born and raised in the Bronx, NY.

Rivera is best known for her acute attention to detail and artistic style, "circlism". She combines concepts from the unconscious realm with patterns in nature and architecture. Rivera considers her work as fine craftsmanship conceived through obsessive repetition and meditation.

She has exhibited at Center on Contemporary Art (Seattle, WA), Art/Not Terminal Gallery (Seattle, WA),  Nave Gallery (Somerville, MA), and Overture Center for the Arts (Madison, WI).

In 2014, Rivera moved to the Pacific Northwest and currently lives in Seattle.

After a portfolio review and a meeting with an artist friend/mentor, I've completely changed my plan for the framing of "Allies & Demons".

The feedback I received from individuals in the art industry is that galleries, curators, art collectors, prefer artwork that is "white on white". This means white frame and mat.

On Thursday, I went to my local framing shop and picked out a few frames to take home and test with my work. I thought that simplifying my frame choice was going to be cheaper than my original plan, however, it is actually about $120+tax more.

It is a bit of a bummer, but it needs to be done. My plan is to have this series in different locations in Seattle and hopefully outside of Washington. That being said, the white on the white concept will match with wherever the series goes. My art will breathe and look clean and professional.

A little off topic but this past weekend, I was awarded People’s Choice for my piece “The Seedling Nymph”!

The piece was part of the “Motherland” show at the Center on Contemporary Art in Seattle.

There are 7 pieces total that need framing.

The 5 big pieces are 14”x17”. The owner of the frame shop, Molly, is kind enough to offer a 10% discount (yay!). The total for the first five is $919.95, before tax.

The 2 smaller pieces are 11”x14” and the total is $313.78–also before tax and with Molly’s discount.

Shout out to Seattle Custom Framing!

Also, look how pretty those frames are! Don’t you just want to see beautiful art framed in them?
