Sadly, Allen lost his battle Tuesday, April 11, 2017 around 7:30 pm. He is now with his beloved grandson Aidan and his trust sidekick, his beloved doggie, Dutch!

"Dad was a fighter. The knock down, drag out, you better bring the kitchen sink type. He loved just as strong but not as visibly unless you took some time to know him. Never thought anyone owed him. Stared certain death in the face like the mountain of a man he was. A month ago he told me he wanted to go out with dignity, like a man, and he did. He ate every last punch and never asked for the towel. The world will never be the same for the Holt family. Everything I have to say he already knows. "

UPDATE: Dad (Allen) is in his final days and hours now. Very little time is left. He has a few lucid moments and they are further and few in between. He is in hospice care outside of the home and wishes to remain here until he passes. No paliative treatment options are available. He is being made as comfortable as he can and his oxygen is as high as it can go. The cancer progressed violently in the past week, and especially the last 48 hours. Tumors have completely blocked bowel movement and are growing rapidly in the lungs. This will be the final update while dad is still with us. He is tired and is ready to go home now.
We are humbled by the outpouring of help and support we have received. There are many expenses, with the most imminent being the funeral costs. Please share and consider helping if you're able.
