ALL HEARTS ON DECK for Serah

For those who are just tuning into our happening:

Serah needs our help.

In June, Serah was diagnosed with Stage 3 Complex Chronic Neurological Lyme Disease or MSIDS (Multiple Systemic Infectious Diseases Syndrome) and mycotoxin poisoning. To clarify, in addition to Lyme (Borreliosis), Serah has a number of co-infections (Babesia, Rickettsia, Bartonella, Mycoplasma, Epstein Barr Virus, etc. ) affecting multiple systems of her body at once.

This was a culmination after many months of illness—a bone infection requiring emergency surgery, high fevers, an immune system collapse resulting in hospitalization and quarantine, flu and infection after flu and infection, doctor upon  doctor.

The illness then hit an acceleration point, moving into Serah's central nervous system, causing seizures, tremors, stuttering and slurred speech, severe nausea, intense bouts of vertigo,  hallucinations, heart palpitations and psychotic split-dissociative episodes of terror—this last one, she would describe as her brain was on fire.

Again, she was rushed to hospital with no conclusions.

Test after test—a bone marrow biopsy—meetings with infectious disease specialists and oncologists ... and, no answers. It was frightening. For her to know something was wrong; for the ones who are closest to see something was wrong, and to feel our medical system failing.

We never knew day to day what was next—there are stretches of time when we still don't.

One day, she wouldn't be able to walk—the next, only one eye could see—Serah required around the clock sitters and was unable to leave the house.

Fortunately, Serah was blessed to be referred to an internist/functional medicine doctor at P3 Health who was determined to find the root cause ,and due to her worsening neurological symptoms, was  fast-tracked into treatment right away (to offer a sense of timing: the usual wait time is six months up to a year).

**Because of the complexity and the political environment around  Lyme, it often takes years to be diagnosed and it is extremely challenging to find doctors willing to treat it.**

Complex Chronic Lyme in any form is not recognized by the Canadian government due to a slew of inhumane political antics of the US. Unfortunately, Canada has not learned yet to think for itself in some cases and has chosen to emulate the CDC guidelines. Denying the existence of late stage Lyme.

(Google all this business and you'll go into quite a rabbit hole—if you are interested, there is a great two part documentary called Under Our Skin:  http://underourskin.com/#home-underourskin.)

This means nothing is covered.

Your contributions so far have made private testing possible and paid for initial doctors fees, which were to the likes of $5000+.

Currently, treatment is speculated to last anywhere from a year or more; nothing is definite at this point in terms of timing and length of healing—or functionality—until we see how her body and mind responds to the various forms of medication.

There is no direct path to remission or healing with Lyme and it's co-infections. It's non-linear and experimental.  Treatment protocol through P3 includes longterm use of multiple antibiotics, herbal/botanical support, IV therapy, fortification supplements, and a vigilant detox regime.

Currently, the cost of treatment is approximately $3000 a month—this does not include rent, food, living expenses etc.

This is a big deal.
And we are so grateful you are out there.
And we are so grateful for the love you send Serah's way.

We are still scared and we are still hopeful.

Serah is very sick but still Serah—and I continue to feel honored to have the privilege to be here, with her, now.

We'll continue to call all hearts on deck and we'll continue to ask you for your support.

By coming together to raise money and amplify prayers as a community to help Serah financially through these next months, we're hoping to shift the way we all engage in the world as human beings and how we can actively participate in our own (and each other's) vitality and care.

The alternative would be for Serah to take out a line of credit, causing more depletion in an already exhausted heart and spirit.

To be absolutely clear: these funds will be used specifically for both supporting Serah while is she is out of work and for her medical treatment—any remaining funds (once Serah has been restored to whole health) will be paid forward to another human being in Serah's situation.

We cannot do this alone.

We need you.

We need this heartful community while we hunker down and breathe through the neverending storm.

We commit to continued transparency on this and all parts, moving forward.

A note from Serah:
This is hands down the scariest experience of my life—I'm doing my absolute best to navigate ongoing fear and discomfort as consciously possible.  I approach this entire process as a deep teaching: perhaps even my greatest initiation yet. In this way, I'm committed to learn everything I can about what this bacteria are here to teach me ... to teach us. It's my belief that we live in a living medicine matrix and everything is orchestrated for our greatest growth potential.

I have recently started a YouTube channel ...  if you are interested, please visit Learning Through Lyme:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZVHG5-YaeoeBXbnX6raYoQ?view_as=subscriber.

Treatment can be aggressive and results in episodes of amplified illness:

4 months into treatment, this is the happening...

These past few days have been scary ones.
My organs are now showing significant signs of distress from my treatment protocol. My care team, P3 health, has been unorganized and unreliable all along but now are bordering on negligence.
I know they are dealing with a large number of scared, very sick people who have no where else to turn but from my end, I am one scared sick person who is slipping through the cracks and definitely not receiving the proper care or attention.
I feel like I am flailing right now.
It was purely by grace that I caught the organ distress and I recognize that even though I am scared, I am also held.
I am in the process of looking for a new Lyme Literate Doctor (LLMD) and naturopath in the Toronto area.
I know there are few, but I only need one so... prayers upon, prayers...

Again, thank you all for your ongoing support and love. I really do feel it and I am so grateful.

Also, I've started a YouTube channel:
Learning through Lyme
Check it out if you are inspired to do so.
Blessings xo

-Thank you so much for the pouring in of support. Everything helps. Truly. Everything. Helps.

-Treatments are happening full force. In addition to medication, antibiotics and supplements (which is a full time job and practice - minute to minute - hour to hour) I am now undergoing regular IVs, colonic hydrotherapy and infrared saunas.
With Lyme bacteria, co-infections and mycotoxin poisoning the process of healing is non-linear. Getting better often looks and feels like getting worse. This requires a deep amount of trust and straight up prayer. The bacteria/viruses are challenged as treatment advances so they do what anything working to survive does; fight back. Also, as they die off, they turn into neurotoxins in the system so detox is vital. Working to balance the die-off - detox ratio is quite tricky.

- There has been definite improvement in my autonomy and psychological state of being. I can now be alone for a few hours and have even managed to go to doctors appointments by myself (via uber mind you, TTC would be way to overwhelming).

- On the daily, I am exhausted and in consistent pain with a myriad of symptoms but I feel my attitude and alignment with my inner knowing is the guiding force. It's as if my soul is being fortified through this crucible.

I have faith.
This too shall pass.
