A Little Help From Our Friends

Donation protected

In less than five years, married couple Albert and Denise have endured cancer, surgery, robbery, death, and forced displacement. Their tribulation began with the loss of their home, which has forced the couple to live in hotels for years. Shortly afterward, Albert suffered his first heart attack, and less than three weeks ago doctors removed a mass from his lung; these complications have prevented him from returning to his job. Meanwhile, Denise has been battling cancer, kidney disease, and heart problems for several years.

Additionally, two years ago Albert and Denise were victims of a hit and run robbery. The culprits forced the couple’s vehicle off the road into a tree, which was nearly fatal and completely totaled their truck. Despite their seatbelts, the incredible force of the impact propelled the couple from their vehicle onto the highway during a thunderstorm. The thieves then stole the injured party’s wallets, cell phones, shoes, purse, laptop, clothing, and removed all the rings off of Denise’s blood-drenched hands. The criminals were captured and sentenced to prison, however none of the stolen goods could be recovered as the items were reportedly traded for drugs.

Denise’s mother Elizabeth was under her care from 1987 onward, even sharing a hotel room once the former’s home was lost. Elizabeth, 93, passed away Christmas morning 2016, but due to ongoing financial troubles Denise was unable to complete payments for her mother’s funeral. As a result, Elizabeth is currently interred in a nameless grave, awaiting an inscription for the blank headstone.

Prior to the series of events that devastated their finances, Albert and Denise worked very hard for many years and experienced career success. The nest egg the husband and wife saved for years is now depleted. Their only remaining family member is a grandson, who only makes enough to support himself.

Albert and Denise will soon be unable to pay for their medical treatments and hotel expenses. Furthermore, doctors believe the stressful events of the past few years may have caused a delayed recovery. The twosome is celebrating almost 40 years of marriage, having shared their first kiss in kindergarten. With the help of God, they hope to receive enough donations to spend several more years together.
