Rally with us in support of Alisha's Fight against Leukemia!

Alisha's Story

Two years ago, Alisha was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer at only age 32.  By God's grace and Alisha's grit, she was able to conquer the breast cancer.  With the support of her two boys, her parents, extended family and amazing friends throughout the country, Alisha was abundant in prayer support and love. She beat cancer and she made it look easy! (Even though we all knew that it wasn't)

A New Beginning

In the process of treatment, multiple surgeries and her recovery journey, Alisha consistently maintained that well-known, contagious smile of hers upon her face.  When challenge came her way, she found a way to laugh at it and then plow through it.  She worked hard and kept moving forward faithfully despite the fact her life as she knew it was completely flipped upside down all at once.  Her new "normal" required she start over completely.  While preparing and eventually recovering from surgery, Alisha prepared a new home for herself and her two sons simultaneously navigating the unmapped road of single motherhood.  She was tremendously brave in the face of uncertainty, always moving forward while keeping her eyes fixed on God and whatever plan he had for her life.

In late 2015, God brought James into Alisha's life.  From the beginning, it was obvious these two souls were meant to walk through this life side-by-side.  Nervously, she knew she had to be very honest early on and share her past health history with this new man.  James never waivered in his commitment to Alisha; he accepted her for who she was no matter what this may mean for their future together.  They were married in May of 2016 and Alisha's family of three was now a family of SIX! Everyone involved in their lives agreed and rejoiced at how insanely happy these 6 people had been since being brought together.  The unity of these two halfs made each of them whole.

Alisha's New Fight Begins

After two years cancer-free and just 3 months into their marriage, Alisha started experiencing extreme, unexplainable chest pains and suffered back pain so severe it could not be beared or even managed with medications.  After multiple visits to emergency rooms, hospitals, doctors, chiropractors and her former cancer team, she left each time facing more questions than answers and was rendered unable to work.

On Sunday, August 21st, Alisha was unable to move on her own.  She was taken to the hospital via ambulance.  On standby, we prayed for relief from her pain and that they would be able to locate a cause.  No one could have anticipated what happened thereafter.  After several tests, the doctors informed Alisha & James that they believed she had developed Leukemia.  Sunday night, we prayed veraciously that they were wrong. Surely, they had to be mistaken. Monday morning, her diagnosis was confirmed.  They believe the cause of the leukemia was the chemotherapy that rid her of her breast cancer.

Currently, more test results regarding which type of Leukemia are to come.  Her port was implanted within 24 hours of diagnosis and chemotherapy started thereafter.  She will be in the hospital for about a month at a time, likely multiple times over the next several months of her leukemia fight.  James is now the sole provider for the Stocker family and has stepped into primary caregiver role for their 4 children confidently and without a nanosecond of hesitation.  We cannot express how much James' immediate actions and positive outlook have brought a sense of calm to not only his wife, but to the entire family who have walked this journey before just two years ago.

Due to the events and circumstances that are sure to come (both forseeable and not), this fund has been created to help the Stocker family with the extreme influx of medical expenses paired with the significant loss of Alisha's income while she fights this cancer.  She had just begun a new career with a wonderful employer; however, her tenure is not long enough to maintain her health insurance while she is unable to work. In addition to losing her health insurance, she does not qualify for FMLA or assisted leave via her employer.  All funds raised will go directly to Alisha's expenses and to provide for the family during this difficult time.  We know God is good and although we don't always understand his plans, we trust his purpose.

We need your help!
Let's be Alisha's Allies in her fight to beat cancer for the second time! LEUKEMIA IS NO MATCH FOR LISH!  Any amount of support is amazingly helpful in easing the worries of the expenses related to this path the Stocker's are forced to trek. We are grateful beyond measure for the generosity and support of everyone in providing Alisha the means to focus on her fight and not worry about the rest and also enabling James to be there for Alisha and their children at the capacity necessary.

Whether or not you are able to donate monetarily, please add her to your prayer lists because there is surely power in numbers! Every prayer, every dollar, every thought, every well wish and every share of this campaign will spread the word and impact the Stockers in a positive way.  Please share graciously so that we can lift them up, raise awareness to Alisha's journey and also raise awareness of Leukemia after previous cancer.

A blog will be created with updates on her treatment and progression. Updates will be posted here as well. Thank you for taking the time to read about Alisha and the Stocker family. God Bless.
