Alan Gifford (algiff) Memorial Fund

Donation protected
My name is Debra Monk and Alan was my best friend in the world.  While he lived in West Virginia and I in Ohio we talked multiple times a day and spend our evenings online playing games.  This fund is to support his mother in paying for the expenses of his passing and assisting her in anyway needed.  Alan was her only child and her husband passed a number of years ago.  The funds raised are transfered to me and I in turn mail her a check.

Alan Ray Gifford, known to many as 'algiff' or "Al" was the kindest loving man that most will come across in their lifetime.  He was a talented musician, a devoted son and the best friend anyone could ask for.  His passion was music.  He not only was an expert piano player by training but he could listen to a tune for the first time and sit down and play it as if he had been practicing for weeks.  He was always in search of an all 80's band but never turned down the chance to play Christian, country, pop... you name it.

Alan had loving and devoted parents; Marilyn (Jackson) Gifford and the late Col. Richard E. Gifford.  He graduated from East Fairmont High School and Webster College. He had worked for General Delivery and most recently sold on EBay.

Alan had a birth defect that for anyone else would have defined them.  But not Alan!  No matter the inconvenience he never let it limit him.  He remained independent, he played every gig offered, he danced, he sang, and when he wasn't helping a friend with his impressive online skills he was playing a game.

It didn't matter the game.  Yatzee... he's in.  Farmville? He will send you some chickens if you need them.  He played high strategy in World of Tanks and FPS in King of the Kill.  He wasn't the best at gaming but he was one of the best teammates anyone could ask for. He took a bullet, blocked a tank, lost a 1v1 match and anything else you could ask of him JUST TO BENEFIT YOU OR THE TEAM. He was the most selfless individual in gaming and life.  His gaming team was Cindex (Andy), Laidbackgamer (Jesse), and F0llytrout (Debra).  He never went a day without completing his Hearthstone tasks and had twitch on 24/7.  He was a participating member of angrypugnation, he was a regular in Kulaaid's stream and he talked about them like they were longtime friends.  He didn't go a day without hitting the streams of Slyvinlisha, Lieutenant, SassyStays, clov3, Feisty514m Curvyllama, OPscT, Grimmmz and KillyKAPOWski when they were on.

Alan suddenly passed at age 50 only one month from his 51st birthday.  He adored his mother and grandmother who are his surviving immediate family.  This fund is intended to assist his mother in paying for funeral costs as well as assist his mother in caring for his 98 year old grandmother given that she no longer has his assistance with her.

His passion was music. Alan was an extremely talented musician and vocalist. He played several different instruments, most often the keyboard. He played with several gospel and county groups including, Silverado, Rhythm Section, Transition, John Bolton and Marshall Sisters. He currently played with Intent, Country Knights, Knights of the Cross and Psalm 150.
Alan was a devoted member of the Rose of Sharon Church. He served the church with his Christian Music and the Rose of Sharon Facebook with his other passion of taking beautiful pictures.

Alan was one of the Nicest, Caring, Amazing guys anyone would ever meet.  If you suggested you were trying to find something for your family, he would be all over the internet searching for what you wanted and tryed to find the best deal available. He enjoyed a good heated discussion about sports.   His teams were all Pittsburg. If the Steelers lost, he was beside himself.  He didn't miss a televised Pirates or Penguins game and he took his sports seriously.

Alan had a dry since of humor that caused his friends many nights of belly rolling laughter.  Because of his delivery it was hard to tell when he was being funny; that caused more laughter than the joke itself.   In the end, he was a selfless and caring man who will be very missed.

Alan loved people. He will be greatly missed by his family, his church family, his music family and his many good and dear friends. In addition to his mother, Alan is survived by his grandmother, who he was extremely close to and helped care for, Virginia Jackson of Fairmont; his aunts and uncles, Pamela and Bruce Blagg of Florida and George D. and Barbara Jackson of Clarksburg; several cousins, Tina and Oscar Calderon of Florida, Erica and Rob Child of New York, Ryan and Nicole Calderon and their children, Arianna, Aiden, Ashton and Axel Calderon of Florida and Monica and Brian Adams and their daughter, Amanda Adams of Virginia, Jennifer and Peter Encinosa and their children, Alex and Anna and Chris and Acima Blagg and their son, Owen, all of Florida. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, George F. Jackson.
