Alfred's Medical Bills

Donation protected
We've had Alfred for a little over 2 years. He stands for everything right in a relationship. Alfred is the first pet my fiancé and I have ever had together. He is the most talkative / dog-like feline we have ever met. We care for him like a son. For the last year my fiancé and I (due to expired visa) have not been able to live together. It has taken a large toll. Our son, Alfred, has been the most amazing emotional support through this time. Without him, without what he stands for, and means to us, we would have not been able to stay as strong as we are now. He has given us strength when we were at an all time low. He has given us so much love and happiness.

Two weeks ago I noticed we wasn't using his litter like he regularly would. His attitude was changing. He stopped touching his food. Stopped drinking his water. He had lost interest in his surroundings. I came home from work and noticed there was vomit in spots around the bedroom. He was no where to be found. Hiding, he must have felt so guilty. I brought out food to try and spoon feed him, and out he came from underneath the bed. He was small, weak, and walking aimlessly to the sound of my spoon clinking on his bowl. He started shaking and fell over. Seemed so lifeless in my arms. I've never been so terrified for another living being. I rushed him to the nearest 24hr urgent veterinary care. I will never forget the feeling i felt in the waiting room. Sitting for hours, so helpless. The veterinarian said he had urinary blockage. Without proper action it could lead to internal bleeding, kidney failure, heart attack, etc. Alfred spent the next 48hrs connected to a catheter, draining blood from his urine. They gave us three options, one being a lifetime of discomfort and continuous visits in the emergency room.

Two:  A procedure called Perineal Urethrostomy that will permanently cure urethral obstruction but is less taken because of its high cost

Final: To put down

We chose to go through with the procedure. It was the best decision we have ever made. Alfred is now looking healthy, his attitude is much better, and is more affectionate than he has ever been. Unfortunately, the high cost of tests and procedure have left our little family in a financial problem. Anything you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
