ALEXIS ,MY SISTER NEEDS YOUR HELP!!

Donation protected
Alexis two months post trauma.
One of God's special angels needs your help!    On  January 17th  2017 my precious, beautiful, Down syndrome sister Alexis, survived a nightmare.

She was attacked by her best friend and protector, the family dog, an eight-year-old yellow Lab, as she was petting him.  With one bite, he amputated her entire nose, ripped open half her face and sliced open both eyes.             That afternoon  in the emergency room, was beyond a nightmare.  Blood was pouring from her face, eyes,  and where her nose once was.

During emergency trauma surgery that lasted through the night, her face was stitched back together, both eyes were stitched up and a few hundred stitches inside where her nose once was.  It was 100% nose  amputation.  So rare was her injury,  the doctor said they had never seen such a face trauma. Everything was gone; the septum, cartilage, tissue and skin.

There is only one doctor in the country able to rebuild her nose. It will consist of seven or more surgeries.  It involves stretching and using forehead skin, harvesting rib cartilage, and so much more.

I will be taking Alexis from Greensboro North Carolina, our hometown, to Tucson Arizona, at least eight times over the next year.   The surgical procedures need to be started immediately. In order to do this,  full payment must be paid upfront.  All  funds raised will be going directly to cover doctor fees, hospital fees, anesthesia, and all travel expenses. We will need to raise close to 200k . Everything will be paid out of pocket.

From the moment I saw her laying in the ER  hooked up to IVs, choking and throwing up blood, as the trauma team was trying to wrap her wounds before surgery, I swore if I could give my arms or legs to have her face back , I would. But that is not possible. All that is possible,  is to get her to this amazing surgeon in Tucson, and pray that she comes through each difficult surgery like the champion  that she is.

Anyone who is ever had the privilege of meeting Alexis always fall in love with her from her first signature handshake!  She is an inspiration  to everyone. This has truly been devastating. She has worked hard in everything she has done in her life, even helping others. She is a  Special Olympics athlete , with 14 gold medals in golf. She is a dedicated servant of Dormition Greek Orthodox Church; serving as a Sunday School teacher, baker, volunteer and assistant. She also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and is a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.        She is a special daughter to my parents who have been devastated by this, and the greatest sister I could ever ask for.         Amazing character always shows during the worst situations.  Alexis has managed thru all her tears and our tears to stay very strong, and somehow still amaze us. She ordered a "Jennifer Anniston nose" as she was going into trauma surgery that night, amazing.

I will spend the rest of this year getting her to each surgery in Tucson, and helping her recover. Alexis has been staying with me. She requires constant care.           We so need your help! Even the smallest amount is greatly needed.            There are no words to explain how special Alexis is to all who love her.  She deserves the world!

With your help,we will be able to do this!
All she wants is to be able to look in the mirror and see her beautiful face whole again.  Help us put that precious smile back on her face!!  Our family thanks each of you from the bottom of our hearts!                                                             Love,                                                                                      Anna

I wrote this and set up this fund in March 2017. Our goal was just shy of 200,000. It is now January 2018. Alexis has endured 355 straight days of surgeries and recovery.  With these special fundraisers combined, the fund set up at the church,  we are so close to meeting our goal ! With everyone's help, Alexis has had and recovered from 7 surgeries.  Each one has been and must be paid in full 10 days prior. We have 2 surgeries to go. We leave in 3 days for the next big surgery. We are  just  $25,000  shy of being able to finish this miracle journey!!  Thank you so much for having so much love in your heart. It has not been wasted.   To everyone from across the country that know Alexis and people that have never met her, everyone that has joined together, thank you so much.  Please read each update , this has been a hard journey. For those who don't know her, it will help you understand what's in her heart.       With all your support you have helped me make this miracle possible. We have raised over 200k . Every cent has been sent to Tucson.  Now if we can reach the goal on this acct we will make Alexis' dream of being beautiful again come true and have enough to finish these last 2 surgeries. We are so close. Help us reach this goal for Alexis!. Her tears are heartbreaking. Your love and support will help us stop those tears. We love all of you and cannot thank you enough! You are all truly helping an angel.
Life never works out like you plan it when you are young... There are always curveballs..Sometimes you never even can understand how you get popped so hard. This has been hard for Alexis to understand ,how this could have even happened to her. She has faced struggles and disappointments her whole life growing up, always staying strong. This has been tragic for us all, trying to understand why and how she was given this struggle  now......is impossible. Some things we never understand, but you have to look at the good.  We have been blessed with the most amazing doctor, and the most amazing people to help us through this journey. ..We say a big prayer and when it's all over,   hope for a smile....And smile as much as you can along the way. That is all you can do, that's life. We are winding down this long journey, but we still have some mountains to climb.... So thankful....    Please pray for each step to be successful and Alexis to stay strong and healthy through it all. She is truly a warrior. Strong. Courageous.Brave. Full of LOVE.  100 percent ANGEL!
