For Alexei

On Monday February 1st Alexei was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer called Wilms tumor. He is undergoing surgery to have the mass and kidney removed. He will then likely have to follow a minimum 6 month course of chemotherapy with visits to Portland once a week. This will likely be followed by 2 years of tests and scans every 3 months. Our world has turned upside down, to say the least. We are trying to take it one day at a time and do everything we can to get Alexei through this time. We have been overwhelmed by the amount of support that has flooded in. So many people - acquaintances, family, friends - have asked if there is anything they can do to help us. Prayers and love sent his way is all we really need. A donation to Alexei's medical expenses is another way to contribute to his recovery if you are able or looking for another way to help. We love you all. This is just another reminder that in the end all we really need is each other.
