Help Aleksandra Boyle Fight PAH

Donation protected
In response to requests from family and friends, we are raising money to support Aleksandra, Thomas and baby Ania in light of Aleksandra's devastating diagnosis of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH). This rare, permanent and progressive condition has no cure and means that Aleksandra has extreme breathlessness, is oxygen dependent, experiences dizziness, fatigue, severe chest pain, heart palpitations and in time may need a double lung transplant. Aleksandra has already been assessed for suitability for transplant in the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle. The condition has advanced to stage 3 which means any minor exertion is causing difficulty.

The condition is a lung disorder of unknown cause and is explained as high blood pressure in the pulmonary arteries which puts strain on the heart and ultimately can lead to heart failure.  This is where we need your help to donate and share this page. This young family need home adaptations to make their day-to-day living more manageable, and need assistance with the financial pressures associated with coping, caring and living with a progressive disease, as well as caring for their daughter.  Their home is not safe as bathroom/washing and sleeping  facilities are on the first floor and they need these facilities to be at ground level. Aleksandra struggles severely with stairs; with the exertion bringing on dizziness and other symptoms. The oxygen cable comes down the stairs as the unit needs to be in a secure room but this is a potential tripping hazard for Aleksandra whilst carrying Ania. They have newly bought their home and don't have the option to move. Thomas is self employed and he has had to limit his working hours to ensure support is there for as much time as possible but a reduced income is further adding to their stress, worry and strain as financial pressures build.

Since getting married in September 2017 and welcoming baby Ania into the world in August 2018, Aleksandra's health has deteriorated suddenly and rapidly. Over the last year, Aleksandra has had a whirlwind of hospital appointments at the Golden Jubilee hospital in Clydebank and laterally at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle involving tests, scans and numerous hospital stays. Care has been excellent but the treatment has proved difficult - multiple medications have being tried which have not been  effective, and Aleksandra requires daily oxygen use. The latest medication Aleksandra will receive is called Flolan which will be given intravenously, long term. This involves a catheter and Hickman line being inserted into Aleksandra's chest through a surgical procedure and a small battery pump keeps the medication flowing from the outside to the inside of the body.  We hope that this medication will ease her symptoms.  Through this page we will keep you posted on her progress.

Due to the condition, Aleksandra is struggling to do daily tasks, walk short distances, climb stairs and function normally. As well as managing her condition, Aleksandra's existing energies are all devoted to caring for her beautiful girl who is the centre of their world.

Please help this deserving cause and make a real, tangible difference to this family immediately and for going forward.  Please donate and share.  Thank you so much for making a difference, we appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts. Xxx
