Hey! How you doin’?
We’re the Alberta Clippers, a competitive quidditch team made up of Edmonton and Red Deer athletes. We were founded in September 2014 and are two time gold medal winners of the Western Canadian Regional Quidditch Championship. We are hungry for our next gold at Nationals!




What’s quidditch, you ask?
Great question! Quidditch is a full-contact sport with roots in the Harry Potter series. It’s a mixture of handball, rugby, dodgeball, and tag, and yes, we run with broomsticks between our legs (or in our case, PVC piping, which is a lot more aerodynamic).

One of the best things about quidditch is that it’s the most inclusive sport out there. It’s mixed-gender, which means that people of ALL genders play. Diversity is enshrined in the rules, with a maximum of four players of the same gender identity on pitch at once, on each team.

The next Canadian National Championships are on April 2 and 3, 2016! We’ll be competing against 20 other Canadian teams in Kingston, ON, and we’re ready to take them all on. We haven’t had much of an opportunity to play Eastern teams yet, and let’s just say that these sporty spices are ready to kick some Eastern butt!

Kingston is a heck of a long way to fly from Alberta considering we don’t have magic broomsticks. It could cost us as much as $19 000, and most of this is coming out of our pockets. As students and young folks, we’re hoping to raise $5000 through GoFundMe to help cover some of the costs.
