Alana's surgery

Donation protected
We are trying to raise money for a life changing surgery. Alana has been suffering from a neurological disorder called spasmodic dysphonia. Spasmodic dysphonia  is thought to be caused by abnormal functioning in an area of the brain involved in coordinating movements in muscles throughout the body. In Alana's case this has affected the movement of her vocal cords therefore affecting her voice. There is no known cure for spasmodic dysphonia to date however, there is temporary release with the treatment of botox which she gets every few months. The issue with botox is that it's very inconsistent and there are times where the dose is soo high she is left with no voice for up to 2 months until the botox settles then left with good voice for a month if she's lucky then the process repeats. It's inconsistency prevents Alana from being able to start her career job or any day job for this matter.  Recently Alana discovered a surgical option for this disorder that has proven to be 90% successful in women. This surgery is called Thyroplasty Type II and is done at the Isshiki Memorial Voice Centre in Japan by Dr Shinya Hiroshiba and his team. The cost of the surgery is $7,100 AUD and to make matters worse is about to increase to around $14,000 in the next few months plus flights and accommodation. In our current situation having 2 young kids and Alana unable to work a day job makes this surgery out of our reach. Any support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
