Akwaaba Race Against Poverty

The Akwaaba Volunteers Team will be racing against poverty for our "Street To School Soccer Project". We will be tackling Ghana's most challenging (and sweaty as we will be running in +30degrees) 5k military obstacle race on October 21st followed by taking part in Accra's international marathon just one week later.
Using the power of sport we can help keep more young children off the streets and alleviate poverty in the communities we are working with. Through our soccer project we are supporting young boys and girls aged 10 to 16 who are currently living in extreme poverty . This is defined as a severe deprivation of basic human needs including food, safe drinking water, sanitation, shelter, health and education. Through our pathway programme we can ensure everyone gets a better start promoting education, skills, health, mentoring and football to help eradicate poverty and the things assosciated with living in these conditions such as child labour, illiteracy and teenage pregnancy.
We have given ourselves less than 4 weeks to prepare for the challenges ahead so we would love your support and encouragement.
A donation of £1 will allow us to feed 1 child before school everyday for a week.
£5 can purchase a mosquito net to help prevent a family living in poor conditions getting malaria.
£10 can buy 2 kids new football boots to allow them to train and keep off the streets
£20 can feed the whole team after training so noone has to go to bed hungry or help a family eat for a week.
£100 can register a child from our project into formal education and pay for the books they will need to study.
Please help us help more young people who deserve the right to education and a fair shot to create a better future for themselves. Even the smallest donation can literally help to change someone's life!
