I was in a severe car accident 25 years ago and haven't been able to work since that time. The accident wasn'
t even my fault, I was hit head on by a drunk driver. My hubby has had to support me since that time, the stress has caused him to suffer from severe chronic depression for 20 years. He has had to go on disability from work a few times during that time period. In the past year he was cut off of Disability three times finally he was given Long Term Disability. (40 percent of his previous wages which is barely enough for one person to live on) We have seriously gotten behind in our bills.
I applied for CPP Disability, was denied. Did an appeal of the denial and was denied again .... now waiting to go to Tribunal. I have contacted Prime Minister Trudeau 3 times... the first time they helped me.... the other two times I have been ignored. There is no doubt I am disabled... I applied and received the Disability Tax Credit two years ago and they even made it retroactive 10 years. The reason for my "denial" is that they claim I did not get my application in within a 15 month window. I gave them documentation that I was seriously ill with a mass on my adrenal gland (plus other medical problems such as 3 now diagnosed G.I. problems) that caused me even to experience a stroke, since my husband was in a deep clinical depression at the same time he was in no position to deal with the paperwork. When they contacted my Doctor to confirm my story they told him I had forged this documentation which was NOT the case! I am still fighting with CPP Disability but the bills are still there and we have no money to pay them. Creditors are now starting to call and we may end up loosing our condo. If that happens we certainly do not have the money to rent an apt. and will be out on the street! Also in spite of getting my Fair Pharmacare adjusted ($1,000 deductable)I have no money to buy my medications so I am going without. As an insulin dependant Diabetic this isn't a great idea but the BC Govt will not give me PWD (Person with disabilities status) if I do not have CPP Disability and my husband is 100 dollars over the allowable income for me to qualify so they told me to divorce him then they would help me.
I understand I have asked for help before and I hate to ask again but I no more resources. I plain on selling my wedding ring this week and a ring that was a heirloom from my mother as well . If you can help us I thank you from the bottom of my heart. We have cut our expenses down to bare essentials and honestly I am scared to death looking at our future.
