Aimee's Marathon fundraiser
Donation protected
This April I’ll be running the Boston Marathon which is something that has been on my bucket list since I was a kid. I grew up watching my dad and brother run the Boston Marathon a collective 4 times and every year thinking “Maybe I’ll do that someday…” Well, this year is the year!
I was lucky enough to get a bib number from my employer, the City of Newton. The Newton Health and Human Services (where I work), has been working on food security in Newton providing programs and resources to Newton residents. Food insecurity is underestimated given that Newton is considered by many, an affluent community. For some perspective, over 13% of Newton residents (1,096 families, 1628 individual students) in Newton public schools (including the preschool) are certified eligible for free or reduced lunch. There has never been a project I’ve worked on that has struck such a cord with me. It has made me appreciate more how lucky I am to be able to put food on the table every day for my family and makes me want to work harder to help others that are not as fortunate. That is why, I’ll be running for food insecurity and all three Newton Food Pantries. Your donation will help a family put food on the table. At the end of the fundraising I will be splitting the total amount between the three Newton food pantries (The Newton Food Pantry , the Centre St. Food Pantry and the Arabic Baptist Church Food Pantry ). I hope that you will join me in fundraising for this effort. Thank you so much!
