Hello friends, family, and strangers!
My name is Aidan Huntington and I'm a 22 y/o trans non-binary artist currently in school for Anthropology and Studio Art.
Over the past few years my gender dysphoria has become harder and harder to suppress, and I've become less and less interested in suppressing it! So instead, I'm taking the steps I need to in order to have the body I want and need to feel true to myself and stay safe in a dangerous world. Laser Hair removal, Electrolysis, and Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) are crucial treatments. Facial/body hair removal and HRT are life-changing and costly treatments for trans-feminine people. Being able to safely and quickly begin these procedures will help me move towards a more comfortable relationship with my body and gender.
These treatments add up though, and are either not covered at all by insurance, or have other important costs associated with them that aren't covered by insurance. Fertility planning before being able to start HRT can cost up to $4,000 dollars, and the facial and body hair removal will add up to at least another $4,000.
These are the the most important and pressing steps I need to take in my transition. Transitioning looks different for everyone, and I'm lucky that my needs for now can be met at a relatively "low" price. No matter what though, transitioning costs a lot of money: money that I don't have, and won't have for the foreseeable future. Being able to start these important steps will lift a weight off of me: I will be able to live a more confident, carefree life without going into debt! (with your help that is).
