Aid for Greek Forest Fire Victims

£1,110 of £10,000 goal

Raised by 29 people in 10 months
Created July 24, 2018
The region of Attica in Greece has been terrorised by forest fires in the past few days. The mortality rate is 74 and climbing.

We are trying to fundraise to send over to the charities providing emergency services, shelter, food and water for the survivors of the blazes.

We will be donating all our proceeds to Global Giving via Facebook

Facebook will match all donations to Global Giving, up to $100,000 - meaning if we raise £10,000 GBP they will also donate £10,000 GBP bringing our donation to £20,000!

Further information is available here:  https://www.facebook.com/crisisresponse/the-wildfire-in-penteli-attica-greece-jul23-2018/about/

We are a Greek family from Thessaloniki and Athens and my mother who is from Athens was severely emotionally distraught at the tragedy back home. She asked that we raise money to help the victims of the wildfires. I (Chryssiana) set up the effort with my cousin Anastasia and my brother, Geordino who is also the beneficiary who is handling all of the economic aspects as it is his strongsuit.

We have no relationship with GlobalGiving. After reviewing various charities, communicating with them and conducting public polls on Instagram and in our personal lives, we deduced GlobalGiving's Crisis Response was the most trusted charity in this situation.

We will be withdrawing the funds and sending them all directly to the Global Giving Charity, as stated in our story and again, now.

Our plan is to simply donate the money to the Global Giving Crisis Response, who have publicly appealed on FaceBook saying that they will match donations up to $100,000
