Africa Prison Ministry Summit

The African Prison Ministry Summit

People who have the misfortune of being sent to prison in Africa and their families suffer greatly. The conditions in the prisons are desperate. Families of prisoners suffer deeper poverty than their neighbors. When a person is released from prison there is a great stigma attached to them. This makes it harder for them and their family to survive.

Prison and reentry ministry is one of the most important ministries but is virtually absent in Liberia and other West African countries. Many African churches have not placed a high priority on prison ministry. The purpose of this Summit is to awaken the churches of Liberia and Sierra Leone to become actively involved in this very important ministry.

Jesus Christ in his earthly ministry was concerned about outreaches and evangelism to prisoners. There are large numbers of souls behind prison walls that can be saved in Africa as a result of such a Summit The African church can become a very good partner of correctional facilities which struggle to serve men and women in their care.

A team of experienced correctional ministry professionals from the U.S. will travel to Liberia in early March of 2019 to train pastors to minister to those in prison and in transition from prison and their families. Your contribution will make it possible for 100 pastors from around Liberia and Sierra Leone to receive important inspiration and training to minister to men, women and their families impacted by the prison experience in West Africa.
