Adventures Commisioning Consortium

I have been asked to compose a composition for tuba accompanied by prerecorded sounds at a college level. I am doing this via a Co-op Press Commissioning Consortium, which is a win-win opportunity where participants contribute $25 towards the commission fee. Commissioners have local premiere rights for one year and are listed in the dedication. Commissioners are also encouraged to submit a digital recording of their performance of the composition and the musicians who submitted the best recording would be eligible for a $100 cash prize. The composition will be called Adventures and will be in three movements: African Safari, Final Ascent to Everest, and Colorado River Rafting. Each movement would have appropriate prerecorded sounds representing the type of adventure. African Safari would have animal-type sounds, Final Ascent to Everest would have wind, breathing, and avalanche sounds, and Colorado River Rafting would have water sounds along with sections with sounds representing serene beauty. The solo part would also be descriptive of the type of adventure but would be more melodic. The soloist would perform from the score that would have the prerecorded sounds notated so that the soloist would know how the two parts fit together. Your support will enable this project to happen and I hope that this composition will be a welcome addition to the repertoire for college level musicians.
