A performance tour offers an unparalleled experience for students. While on tour, students grow socially, emotionally, and musically. For many years, the student musicians in Columbia Heights have been unable to go on tour. Through our commitment to equity, quality, and high expectations and standards for our program and children, we scheduled a tour this year.
OUR TRIP IS AT RISK OF CANCELLATION DUE TO A LACK OF FINANCIAL RESOURCES. YOUR CONTRIBUTION IS VITAL.
As many of you know, I teach the most committed, persistent students in the land. Through their dedication to choral artistry, they grow in creativity, advance their critical thinking skills, and build meaningful intercultural and interracial relationships while addressing some of life's toughest questions with poise and maturity. These students are truly the pride of our school and community!!
The students of Columbia Heights High School's Concert Choir have been preparing for a trip to Chicago, where they will have the opportunity to perform in a festival conducted by world-renowned conductor and composer, Z. Randall Stroope. The venue of the festival is beautiful and historic Orchestra Hall at Symphony Center. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our students. Although an incredible effort to raise funds has been made by students, staff, and community members, many of our students have come up short. With bills due, we will cancel our trip if the funds cannot be reached quickly.
Our school serves a student body in poverty, with 85% of our students receiving subsidized lunch. Our community has put forward as much as they can. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GET THESE STUDENTS TO CHICAGO.
Please consider making a donation. It's so easy, and unendingly appreciated. I'm so hopeful, and so thankful.
If our trip is cancelled, we will persevere. The funds raised this year will roll over to help future student choral groups travel.
