Adelaide's Urgent Vet Assistance!!

Our 7 year old, retired, greyhound, Adelaide has come down with some sort of gastro illness. She started having diarrhea and has been with the vet for 5 days and the culprit has still not been determined as she is not getting any better. While managing her illness with medications and IV fluids, they also want to do exploratory procedures to try and determine what is causing the issue. She is currently on Sucralfate, Metronidazole, Cerenia, Advita, Panacur and another that I can’t recall. We’ve already done blood tests, x-rays, Pancreatitis tests, fecal tests, parasite tests and still have no answers. The vet would like to do a culture test, additional blood tests, an ultrasound and now we are facing a new issue of her having lesions around her rectum and bottom. We have already spent over one thousand dollars in care and look to have another $2000 in exploratory tests as 3 veterinarians are at a loss for what’s causing her issues. Her daily expense for fluids, meds, etc. fluctuates between $150-$450 per day depending on the current plan and like I said, at the time of this post we are on day four. She was currently on Royal Canin Sensitive Stomach when this issue arose and now we will be on prescription food from now on with no treats. Any help would be greatly appreciated for our Adelaide treatment and recovery. We can’t wait to see our little girl running around with her sister greyhound, Dauphine again!! Many thanks!!!

4/27/17 Update: We brought Adelaide to LSU Veterinary Clinic for the fistulas. It is deemed that multiple surgeries and many months of medical care are needed to correct the fistulas. While still not completly sure what caused them, the surgical team thinks it could be from either a spider bite or snake bite but that's just a guess. We still do not know. We have a long road ahead of us and the cost for these procedures and care are beyond our means. We are looking at every option to pay for her care including asking anyone who can help in any way towards her recovery.
