ADARE360 (formally ADARESoccer) has planned activities for summer camp 2017 and calendar year 2017-18. Our July camp has grown to include a tour of the island of St. Vincent, where veteran players coach youngsters in other villages. Players bond while traveling, participate in character education and team-building workshops that echo our mission. They also play local competition. YOUR DONATION PAYS FOR
1. Shipping barrels of balls and soccer gear to St. Vincent, St. Lucia and Dominica. Each barrel costs U$175-250. We plan to ship between 6-10 barrels/year
2. Flights for coaches/volunteers each summer. A flight to SVG is U$900-1100. We want more volunteers to offer enrichment activities beyond just soccer
3. Lodging, food, transportation each summer
4. Monthly stipend for local coaches (September-May) to encourage participation
5. Registration for teams into local youth leagues. Transportation to and from games. Post game meals
6. Academic enrichment activities, excursions, community projects throughout the year
In the last 12 months, we've formed partnerships with youth organizers on the islands of Dominica and St. Lucia. We want to conduct free camps on those two islands beginning August, 2017, as well as support their efforts throughout the year with shipments of soccer equipment.
ADARE360 reflects an evolving focus beyond just soccer. Soccer will remain our main agent of change. Beyond the field, we want youth thinking about identity formation, civic engagement, higher education and giving back in their own way. ADARE360 plans to expand further still, to provide a more complete --360 degree-- support to local stakeholders ready to illicit change for the better.
