Dance education is a unique and valuable way to enrich the lives of children and prepare them to face their challenges. Individuals who dance learn not only physical skills, but also cognitive, emotional, and social skills that will help them throughout their education and the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, children with special needs are often denied the opportunity to join traditional dance classes. I strive to change that by founding an inclusive dance studio for children with special needs and their siblings and peers.
This studio will not yet have a physical location but will travel to homes, schools, and community spaces around North Texas to reach the most students possible. It will serve both individuals with special needs and their peers by providing a dance education that values every child's individual needs and goals.
Over the last 8 years, we have put a lot of research and work into preparing to enter this new field. Now, the business plan is nearly ready, students are waiting for to start, and all that is left is to find funding for start-up costs. Our goal is to launch the business before August 2019, when the dance school season starts. Your support will provide training for instructors, cover materials and travel expenses, and help with the many costs of starting up a business.
