Adam Anwar Memorial

Adam taught so much to all of us, and there's no reason for that to end with his passing. A statue and plaque will help his memory live on, as well as provide a valuable lesson to those who read it. We hope the plaque shows people the importance of pushing yourself to be a better person and finding a purpose.

The statue will be of a runner, reflecting Adam's love of cross country and fitness. On the plinth will be the engraving "Try something new, break out of your comfort zone, and reach a new depth". It's a quote from Adam himself, reminding us that by challenging ourselves, we can find a greater sense of satisfaction and inner strength.

As for the plaque, it will accompany a piece of artwork by Vincent Man, reflecting part of Adam's views. The plaque will have the quote "Life is meaningless, but worth living, provided you recognise it's meaningless". The quote is from Albert Camus, a philosopher Adam and I once discussed. It reveals how even if you take the stance that meaning does not exist, it is not a reason to see no point to life, but a reason to create your own purpose, and strive in fulfilling it. We hope that others who struggle to find meaning in life can be reassured that the purpose itself doesn't matter, rather the freedom to choose to live as we please.
