Hey Everyone!
As most of you know I am a 24 year old single mom and I work on a local farm. I have been wracking my brain for some alternative living situations because I have come to realize that it's next to impossible to survive as a single mother without family support or some sort of financial assistance. As intimidating as it can be......I found another way! I always find a way!!!
I am making a bold move.
Lucy and I are moving onto a homestead called Dillon Mountain Farm in New Mexico! 200 Acres of New Mexico Wilderness! It will be a community living situation with two other families, Lucy and me. We will be living in cabins, growing our own food, slaughtering our own meat, making our own dairy products, soaps and heading for a goal of being completely self-sustaining! After lots of thinking and planning I have decided that this is what is best for Lucy and I.
We will get our chance to be off the grid, play, laugh, work, love in what I believe is the most pure way.
Lucy will be homeschooled this coming fall with a couple of the other children on the homestead!
Lucy and I will be leaving between June 30th and July 1st....and we are DRIVING! This road trip will be a taxing adventure for Lucy and I but we are going to kick ass! (Because, ya know, that's just how Lucy and I do things!)
This is a lifestyle change that many people wish they could experience but most do not believe that it's possible for them. What about their jobs? Families? Friends? No, it's too crazy!
This is my shout out to all of you who believe in this lifestyle!
I am hoping to raise some money to help Lucy and I get through the first year comfortably, build our tiny house and help with our travel expenses. I will be keeping a blog on our "Urban Detox" with pictures and videos as we navigate through learning our primitive skills hopefully inspire other people or even other single parents to feel empowered to make a lifestyle change! This is a big risk but it feels so right.
