Acts2 Church : Run Out Not Off

Donation protected

In April 2011, God called 12 people to plant a church on the Westside of Jacksonville. The goal of Acts2 Church was never to re-invent church but merely attempt to bring it back. The first century church was not about just sitting and listening to the Word of God. It was much bigger than that. It was about being a part of people’s lives.

It has become far too easy to get lost in the church. Many of our people no longer wanted to be just a face in the Sunday morning crowd. They wanted to be a part of something personal. Something that would have others actually care about them.

Others at Acts2 have felt as though the “church” had done them wrong in the past. Our desire has always been to show people that the church can be a safe, non-judgmental place made up of people just trying to serve God the best they can.

God has blessed us tremendously in the last 5 years at A2C. We have been able to serve the community with clothes, food, and most importantly, the delivering of the Word of God. Our ministry to the homeless includes food, various transportation opportunities and pure compassion from our congregation.

Now, we find ourselves needing help.

We are asking the friends and family of Acts2 Church to pray, donate and share this GoFundMe page.

In May 2016, the Duval County fire inspector came by the church for an “annual” inspection. A list of minor items needed to be updated. We did these things right away and received a passing report. At this same time, we were notified that we did not have a Certificate of Use for the building. We completed the application for a new CoU, sent a check and waited for the new form. Our check was cashed but the CoU was denied.

After a meeting with several city officials, it was discovered that new architectural drawings would have to be done and submitted for the CoU to be awarded. Only four days later, the city shut us down and would not let us assemble in our building. This all revolved around a change from being listed as mercantile (retail) vs. assembly.

Thank the Lord, we have been able to continue to meet and have had church-on-the-grounds for the last three Sundays! What a faithful church family and a faithful God.

Now we know what has to be done to get us back in the building. The city can run us out but not off!!

We have to raise $13,500.00 to complete the projects. This amount will cover:

·         Architect and all drawings

·         Two exits including metal doors with panic hardware (sanctuary and fellowship hall)

·         Hallway modification upstairs

·         Additional bathroom

·         A/C upgrade

·         Heat source for unheated area of the building

One FANTASTIC blessing is that we can get back in the building after doing a part of the work and then continue working while we are back in!

As a friend of Acts2, can you help us continue our ministry? We are fighting to stay in an area that many run from… we feel strongly that God has placed us in this specific location all glory to Him for allowing us to get back in!

All donations are appreciated.

Can you also pray for us and the Hooterville area of the Westside? Can you share this frequently on your page? Ask your friends to share it?
