Friends, everything in my teaching and education career has led to this. I am going to open my own school! Acton Scholars Discovery Academy in Concord, CA. The Acton model is a revolution in education, a total disruption to a regular classroom experience. It's time...we need to do something, and this is it! We are in the 21st Century, we have all access to every bit of information in the world, on any particular subject we desire, lets get our classrooms up to speed and bring the excitement of a treasure hunt back to kids in the classroom. This model is learner-led, with all the tools and resources the children may need, and an experienced guide (teacher). The children get to experience researching, learning their way and at their pace! They will be given quests, challenges, and games then they get to figure out a way to conquer, overcome, and win! They will fail and struggle, then be encouraged to get up and try again! Please, if you feel called to help me get started, I would so appreciate it!
