ACCN Robotics Team

In 2018, the African Canadian Christian Network (ACCN) Team 7013 had the honor of being the first Black community team to participate in a FIRST Robotics Competition.  We are especially proud of the three awards that this team, ACCN Techtronix we acquired during our first season.  This was made possible by the generous support of the community, our sponsors and FIRST Robotics Canada.

Encouraged by the success of Team 7013, ACCN launched a second team, 7712, in East Toronto.  New partnerships forged with the University of Toronto Scarborough campus, in the east, and Humber College, North campus in the west, will provide hosting and mentorship support which are critical for the success of the team.  So far, we have registered 30 eager students.

We have launched a GoFundMe page to cover expenses such as parts, competitions; uniforms; transportation and refreshments. We invite you to become part of this incredible journey. Your generosity will enable these hard-working boys and girls to compete with pride, while benefiting from a life changing experience.  This year the two teams will require double the amount of resources.

On January 5 at 10:00 am, FIRST will announce the 2019 Build Challenge, giving teams around the world six intensive weeks in which to design and build a robot to compete. This process provides the students with practical skills.  Additionally, it builds their confidence, encourages teamwork, teaches skills regarding creativity and problem solving, and inspires students to pursue Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

ACCN TECHTRONIX was created to nurture and inspire Black youth success in STEM careers and studies.  We are engaging, challenging and encouraging them to enlarge their vision for their future and to tap into their potential as they explore the career possibilities this field has to offer.
Together we can make a difference in the lives of these young people!

Donations over $20 will receive a donations receipt upon written request.
