My Story:
Friday early in the morning, I was driving and all of a sudden I turned a corner on the freeway and saw a wall of crashed cars and semi trucks. With no way to stop (the road was covered in ice) I faced down certain death. Somehow I walked away with only a broken pinky and a deep gash in my forehead. The corner of the semi-truck came through the windshield to split my glasses at the bridge and sliced into my forehead. The airbags deployed but were no use, ripped to shreds by the back of the semi.
Now I've fighting with the insurance companies because the laws in Oregon are strict about assigning fault to the person who comes up to rear-end, no matter the situation or road conditions. As anyone can see from the video link below (someone was able to capture of the whole 30 car pile up and post it to Youtube) there was basically no way for anyone to avoid crashing. But the insurance company will not pay anything except one tow for a limited number of miles and maybe some of the medical bills, but I'm not sure about those yet and there's no telling when that money might come. I'm lost without a car and struggling more without glasses to even see properly.
30 car pile up on I5 in Portland
Unfortunately, my family is also dealing with the loss of two young children and my niece, who were involved in an accident in another part of Oregon this past Saturday too. The family is reeling from both losses and can use any help we can get in this time of need.
All I'm is hoping for at this point, is to be able to get a new (used) car and a little bit of help with the medical bills. Any donation, big or small is incredibly appreciated!
You can donate here or if you have PayPal and would prefer to just send money that way, send to [email redacted]. Thanks!!
