Greetings family and friends. We are reaching out to you because we need your help. We've been putting this off for quite some time but with the arrival of Gabrielle's new wheelchair,  an accessible van has become indispensible.

Since Gabrielle got her first motorized wheelchair, we've made do with a regular van and a removable ramp. This set- up has been less than ideal but it has allowed us to get to and from the various activities that Gabrielle so enjoys.  Now that Gabrielle is getting a new, much larger chair, it will be impossible to use a regular van as it is much too small to accommodate her power chair and all the equipment she needs for her daily activities.  In addition, an accessible van will eliminate the need for lifting and transfers. As you can well imagine, lifting her has  become increasingly difficult and risky due to the fact that Gabrielle is growing. For example, Gabrielle's grand-parents love to take her out on outings but this has become challenging due the need for lifting a heavy cumbersome ramp everytime they want to get her chair in or out of the van.

We can honesty say that having an accessible van would change our lives. It would remove the many obstacles that stand in the way of Gabrielle participating in the regular activities that all 12 year olds enjoy. As able-bodied people , it's difficult for us to imagine not being able to leave the house at a moment's notice. But this is something that happens far too often in our home. Having  an accessible van would make the following activities easily accessible, far more enjoyable, and more importantly, would allow Gabrielle to experience more autonomy:
- grocery shopping
- going to the mall
- visiting friends
- going to Sunday mass with Grandma & Grandpa
- getting to an appointment
- getting picked up from school
- going to Margaree
- skiing
- camping
- sledge hockey
- dance class
- baseball
- summer camp

Having a child with cerebral palsy presents us with many challenges but most importantly it has been a huge blessing. Our family, friends, and often, complete strangers have rallied around us to offer support and assistance.  Like us, they have been moved by Gabrielle's positive attitude and the joy she exudes!

The van that will meet Gabrielle's needs comes with a hefty price tag - approximately $85000. This is much more than any family would budget for. And this is why we are asking for your help. Even the smallest donation would be greatly appreciated and would make a huge difference to us. We thank you in advance for your generosity and prayers. Please share this with your friends and family.
