Art for Kiln Exchange

Donation protected

Hi :)

My name is Savannah Rozema and I am an artist living in West Cork, Ireland. I make art about the natural world:

(You can find more photos of my work at  https://www.facebook.com/savvylikethat

I am crowd funding in order to raise money for a ceramics kiln. This is not a donation based crowd funding campaign but an art exchange crowd funding campaign.

What I am offering is that my supporters get original one of a kind art piece, at a discount, plus some added perks, and I get to buy a kiln to keep working and growing as an artist - a mutually beneficial arrangement!

All my supporters will receive:
- An exclusive quarterly zine about my work in the post for a year (4 in total) with info and photos about where I am at and where I am going with my art.
- The art piece selected while pledging their preferred amount of money. These are listed below as "rewards".
- A set discount they can use to purchase one ceramic piece of their choice after I purchase my kiln. The higher the pledge, the bigger the discount. This will be valid for 18 months so when I make something you want, you would use it against the purchase of the ceramic item you desire.

Having been profoundly encouraged by my supporters over the last few years, I have decided to push myself with my creative endeavours but to do that, I need access to a kiln so I can keep making, keep practicing, and keep learning.

I am a disabled, so while there are options out there to bring my work to be fired, limited as they may be, the accessibility issues would affect how much I can make and how often I can finish pieces.

Having a kiln in my studio would mean I can work at my own pace, without having to bring my work to a firing off site, twice, while asking my husband to stop his own work to help me.

In the last few years I have attended two art courses and my progress has been massive. The issue with attending further courses always comes down to accessibility and my physical limitations. However, I desperately want to continue exploring ceramics and combined materials and to do this, I need a kiln. Which is where you come in!

So what kind of work do I do? Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media, Ceramics, Textiles and Sculpture. The last 3 years my work has been focused on the natural world, and more specifically "the forest". I spent an entire year exploring leaves, at the end of which I had developed my own type of sculpture I called thread sculptures, where I sculpt leaves from thread using a sewing machine. The past year I spent exploring mushrooms and I developed 3D sculptural pieces recreating slices of nature on reclaimed materials and canvas.

I am passionate about sharing my work, and my processes along with encouraging creativity in others. I want to try to dispell the sense that making art is a magical mystery, but rather that it takes dedication and hardwork and passion, but is something accessible to everyone.

I am very excited to work with my wonderful supporters and to continue growing as an artist.

Thanks for sharing, supporting, and investing in my work. It means the world to me.

If you are at all confused or need clarification on anything please do not hesitate to send me a message or email and I will gladly help you out. I will keep this page regularly updated with the fund raising successes!

PS, the 2100€ buys me a top loading kiln complete with delivery and kiln furniture. It is mounted on wheels for moving it around when not in use and is single phase electrics so we don't need to rewire any sockets to use it. Perfect.

PPS, Do please keep in mind that a) I am disabled by chronic pain and b) I will have a lot of pieces to get out so the piece of work you are going to recieve could take awhile to make and post to you. If I get a few large donations I won't get too behind but if I get loads of smaller donations, it could take several months. I will always stay in contact about delivery times and delays though! I work closely with my clients and that is you in this case :) Thanks for your understanding.
