Send AHMS State Champs to Worlds

THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us!!  

All the girls are going to the Odyssey of the Mind Worlds Finals at Iowa State University.  Thanks to you and all the groups who have contributed, our girls will be facing 60 other teams in their division and we’re sure they will make all of us proud.

A very special thanks to the AEIO and the Abington Heights School District for covering airfare and room & board for all of the girls and their coach.  Without their support this trip would never have been possible.

The Abington Heights Educational Improvement Organization (AEIO) exists to gather community support and resources to help supplement and enhance the educational environment and programs within the Abington Heights Schools District. AEIO helps fund programs and initiatives that support the specialized needs, interests and talents of students at the kindergarten, elementary, middle school and high school levels. AEIO programs are designed to challenge Abington Heights students in a wide array of topics within the arts and sciences and traditionally fall outside the regular school curriculum.  More information about the AEIO can be found at http://www.aeioandyou.org

Odyssey of the Mind is the largest creative problem-solving competition in the world, involving students from kindergarten through college.

Seven incredibly talented 5th graders from the Abington Heights Middle School spent countless hours for 9 months  to take part in the Odyssey of the Mind Regional Competition on March 17, 2018.  None of the girls had ever participated in the competition before. Yet, to their amazement, they came in 1st place and advanced to the State Championship in April.


Facing all sorts of challenges in the last 24 hours before the State Competition, and with very little sleep, they competed against the best PA teams on April 7th.

After a very long day, the girls found out that they will be one of just 2 teams representing PA within their division at the World Championships in Iowa in May!!!
The Odyssey of the Mind World Competition is a 5 day event being held at Iowa State University where our girls will compete against teams from all 50 states and the world.

Transportation, room and board for the seven girls, their coach and some additional chaperones will be expensive.  We are hoping to raise funds to help ensure these amazing girls can continue on their odyssey and take part in this once in a lifetime experience!

Odyssey of the Mind  is a national and international championship that attracts some of the brightest young minds to solve challenges through team work.  Many of these students go on to accomplish great things in their lives.


Everything about their performance - from the script, to costumes and sets -  all of it was 100% envisioned and created by these girls!  Adults are NOT allowed to help them.
