Sierra Leone Mudslide Relief

On Monday August 14th a part of Sugar Loaf Mountain near Freetown Sierra Leone collapsed under heavy rains.

A spate of floods and mudslides have left upwards of 3000 people homeless, almost 400 have been killed and potentially over 1500 more are still missing.

Local mortuaries are overflowing, authorities and aid workers are struggling to retrieve bodies buried deep in the mud or trapped in flooded buildings. Assistance is desperately needed, this is a huge disaster for the people of Freetown and surrounding areas.

The ABEC Learning Foundation  is a charity founded to build and support schools in Sierra Leone but in light of these tragic events, we need to provide help of a different kind.

This GoFundme campaign is currently administered by Dan McCarthy of McEngineer Ltd, ABEC Learning Foundation's IT contractors. Funds raised will be withdrawn by Mr. McCarthy who assisted with the initial setup of the charity and then transferred directly on the day they clear to the charitys own bank account.

Funds will then be transferred on to Ajara Bomah in Sierra Leone, a member of the J4BS Global Outreach Group who have setup the SL Flood Relief Fund.

Funds will be used to purchase food, water, bedding, clothing and hygiene products as well as other welfare related items which will be distributed to those in need in the affected areas of Regent, Kanigo and Kamayama.

This will be a transparent process with all donors receiving a detailed report of exactly where and how the funds are spent and products distributed.
