Help me win a scholarship!

Hi everyone! I got accepted into Arizona State University and will be attending in the fall of 2017! As you all know, college is super expensive! So I've been applying to as many scholarships as possible to help me pay for college.
This scholarship I'm applying for right now is requiring me to make a GoFundMe explaining my story, my acomplishments, and my reasoning of why I deserve this scholarship so here I go!

I am majoring in Early Childhood and Special Education. I also plan on double majoring in Speech and Hearing Sciences. After I complete my 4 years of college, I plan to continue school to obtain my masters degree in Speech Pathology.

I will use my degrees to succeed in my dream job of being a preschool teacher and maybe slowly move my career into working with kids with disabilities. Preschool is an important year for all children because that's where they learn their basics. They learn their numbers, letters, colors, shapes, and they engage with other kids and learn teamwork. But working with children with disabilities makes the job a little more challenging and I'm always up for a challenge. A lot of patience is needed with this job and I want to share my gift of patience and work with the kids who need it the most. I also plan on becoming a Speech Pathologist because kids with speech disabilities have a harder time in school than kids without speech issues. They have a harder time making friends and a harder time gaining confidence. I plan on helping children become the best they can be and I cannot wait to start my amazing career after college.

My future is all about helping children become successful and help them out to the best ability that I can. Growing up, I had a rough school life. I don’t want kids feeling the way I did when I was in school. I was very shy in school and I would always be a nervous wreck the whole day. None of my teachers helped me with it. They would get annoyed with me and threaten me with bad grades. I don’t want other children to experience that. I want to be there for them and help them and let them know that I will work with them. I know not everybody is comfortable in a classroom and I want them to know it’s okay and we will work on it one step at a time.

I also had a speech problem with saying the letter S. I would pronounce the letter S as a CH sound. This made it hard for kids to understand me which resulted in me having very little friends. It was really hard seeing everybody playing together while I would play by myself or with the teacher. As soon as my speech was fixed, my whole life changed. I started gaining more friends, I engaged in more conversations, and it boosted my confidence. It also (kind of) helped with my shy personality because I was putting myself out there more to show off my new and improved speech.

I plan on working with younger kids so I can teach them young to enjoy and love school. I plan on teaching them how to be happy with life and how to love themselves. I feel like telling them things like that at a young age will really help shape their future to become positive, bright minded young adults and that’s exactly what I want to accomplish.

I currently work at a preschool as a Classroom Support Aide. I wake up every day for work full of energy knowing I get to spend 6 hours doing what I love! And what I love is helping children learn! It excites me even more for my future knowing one day this part time job will turn into a full time teaching job.

Now for the financial issues. When my parents were still married, they set up a college fund for me at a young age. They had saved up around $15,000 for me. Unfortunatley, my dad decided to take $4,000 of that money and use it for his own personal needs/addictions without my moms permission. Then when they got divorced, they were suppose to split the remaining amount of money, but he ended up taking the rest of the money, leaving me with nothing.

My mom has raised me all on her own since 2007 with very minimal help from my dad. He has only paid child support a handful of times, leaving him around $40K in debt for child support. That's not including any medical, schooling, extra curricular, etc.

My mom went back to school to get her masters degree to help us have a better life. This has left her with numerous student loans that she needs to pay back which is why she has no money saved up for my college.

She has worked 2 jobs at a time just to make ends meet for us.  So as you can probably assume, money has always been pretty tight for us. That's why I believe I deserve this scholarship because I believe I should get a chance at an education without having to worry all the time about the finical expenses that come with college. Money has always been an issue and I don't to feel stressed about it for much longer.

Thank you to those who took the time to read this.
