Abbey Vice & Family

In 2018, Abbey Vice began a medical journey that would quickly turn into a battle they were not prepared to fight.

She was initially diagnosed with a rare condition called cyclic vomiting syndrome. This would last for days at a time, causing her to vomit constantly - 4 to 5 days, 4 to 5 times per month. She would be hospitalized multiple times within this month's time frame with dehydration and with no ability to eat, ultimately causing malnutrition. This condition is equivalent to having the flu, ALL the time.

In the early stages of 2019, the problems continued as she was diagnosed with her first attack of acute pancreatitis. This eventually turned into chronic pancreatitis which caused detrimental physical issues. She was no longer able to eat on her own and her malnourished state forced her medical team in Indy to place a feeding tube into her stomach. Sadly, this did not help the pancreatitis subside and the attacks continued. Her pancreas is now diseased and the right side also has formed several cysts. Surgery has been decided upon at this time.

On December 22nd, she will be having 50% of her pancreas removed as well as her spleen in attempts to help her current medical conditions. This is no easy road as the doctors expect a recovery time of no less than 6 to 8 weeks.

We are asking for help for this family of 7 in their time of need. Abbey has been unable to work due to her medical state and her husband Matt has taken the financial hit that many of us fear.  He has exhausted his vacation and sick days at work, so he is no longer receiving pay for FMLA days. Abbey relies on him to get her back and forth to Indy, and some months, this happens very frequently. Bills are piling up and Christmas is coming, along with a very difficult surgery and recovery to follow. Any help you can offer this family would be greatly appreciated. We thank you ahead of time for your prayers and your support during this difficult time.
