Aaron Rumbolt's Lymphoma Rematch: We're With You

ROUND TWO:
We Need YOUR Help!

"Until you have an ill child, you really won't understand how much of a financial toll it takes on you. Lost wages, travel to and from hospital (sometimes 4 trips per day), meals that have to be bought for yourself because you don't have the time to cook, medications for home and various other related expenses.  The bills don't stop just because your child has cancer."- Ric Rumbolt

Because Gray Zone Lymphoma is a rare cancer to find in Children the treatment plans take some times to get established. Surgery is not an option due to the location of the Tumor's growth against the chest wall and around the life threatening organs of the heart, lungs, liver etc. This also makes radiation treatment a last resort as the long lasting effects of radiation on a child can lead to bigger and longer lasting issues.

I was notified by GFM to identify myself to all you generous contributors to Aaron Rumbolt’s fundraising. My name is Tammy MacDonald and I have had the privilege of being best friends with Aaron’s Mom Teena, since we were twelve years old. I live in Prince Edward Island, but am blessed to be able to travel to Newfoundland regularly, where the family moved to two years ago to start living their dream that gave Aaron and their daughter Marlee the best upbringing and experiences that they couldn’t provide in PEI. I have witnessed Aaron in the darkest parts of chemo, surgeries and recovery. I have also been by the Family’s side as they deal with the ripple effects that come from having a sick child.
All funds are set up to be withdrawn weekly and deposits go directly into the family’s bank account where they can have access to your donations to help with special care items, gas, meals, parking fees, lost wages as well as to help with the upcoming travel expenses.
Now that all that’s taken care of, please continue reading Aaron’s story.

Aaron is the 16yrs old son of Teena and Ric Rumbolt.
Aaron successfully fought his first diagnosis of Gray Zone Lymphoma in May and was Cancer Free in September, but due to the rarity of Gray Zone Lymphoma in children, the cancer aggressively returned after followup care in November.
Aaron is presently under the care of an amazing Oncology team at the Janeway Children's Hospital in St. John's, Newfoundland, and are jointly working with the Lymphoma Specialists at Toronto's Sick Kids Hospital in Ontario.
As of December 14th, Aaron will start his 28 day cycle of chemo therapy which has Aaron being the first person in Newfoundland to ever use this specific drug targeted specifically for the Gray Zone Lymphoma. This consists of 1 week of hospital stay chemo, which will end Dec 24th, and allow him to be home for Christmas, but with the side effects of this new chemo are quite severe so the home care expenses will also increase in order to keep Aaron comfortable and pain manageable. After Aaron receives his second round of Chemo, Toronto Sick Kids, will require the family to travel to Ontario to harvest his stem cells (this takes about a week), but if they deem Aaron healthy enough, they may decide to infuse the stem cells while he is still in Ontario, so they can monitor Aaron closely. (The infusion process takes at least 30 days and will require the family to also take their seven year old daughter Marlee with them.)

4 fundraisers have been held to support this family (Mom/Dad Teena and Ric Rumbolt, sister Marlee (7) so scared for her brother, and live in grandparents David and Lilly Bradley and Uncle Colin) but the venues were all localized and although every donation was a blessing and accepted with so much gratitude, it was not enough to help them through two battles.

This site was chosen to reach more people in more areas, but if you prefer a donation can be made directly  to the family at [email redacted].
Your donation of what you may spend tomorrow on a coffee, or drop into a change jar at home WILL make a huge difference to this family and allow them to address the more important issues concerning Aaron and to focus on his upcoming treatment plan. If you can't spare anything at this time PLEASE SHARE this page and you can revisit later.
